Accreditation Frequently Asked Questions
What is TAMAR?
TMMi Assessment Method Application Requirements (TAMAR) defines the requirements for constructing Assessment Methods to be used with the TMMi Reference Model. This is NOT as an assessment method, it is the requirements set for building a TMMi Foundation accredited Assessment method for use with the TMMi Framework.
Back to Accreditation FAQs
What is an Assessment Method?
The assessment method is a guide for auditing team members of a TMMi appraisal. As such the Assessment Method document contains guidance on how to manage the Appraisal project.
Back to Accreditation FAQs
Why is an Assessment Method required?
An assessment method is required to ensure that the TMMi assessment is conducted in a structured and well ordered manner. This is to ensure consistency of approach and of assessment findings. The requirement for a structured approach is also to ensure that the assessment is reliable and respresentative of the organization's test practices and complete its coverage of the TMMi Reference Model.
Back to Accreditation FAQs
Does the assessment method need to be accredited?
There are two authorized types of Assessment Methods, described as Formal and Informal. A Formal Assessment has a sufficient degree of rigor and corroboration which can result in a formal capability rating against the TMMi Reference Model. An Informal assessment does not require any corroboration of sources and will not result in a formal capability rating against the TMMi Reference Model.

Will the TMMi Foundation certify Assessment Results?
In order for an organization to be officially certified for compliance with the TMMi Reference Model, an external certified team of assessors must conduct a review of the objective evidence that would support the TMMi Practices and Goals required for the given certification (rating). This is typically undertaken with a small team of auditors collecting information (via interviews and gathering document artifacts etc.) then analyzing this information to produce an appropriate rating.
